About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a scholarship to study abroad, the amount of which is calculated on a case-by-case basis. There is no fixed amount: you submit a budget, and the Augustinus Foundation (Augustinus Fonden), one of Denmark’s leading cultural foundations, decides how much it will cover. In 2025, it awarded 2.2 million DKK in the form of 112 grants, which corresponds to an average of around 19,600 DKK per grant (approximately 2,600 EUR). The grant can run for up to 12 months. It covers study and living costs: tuition fees, flights, visas, rent, electricity and heating, local transport, food, insurance, internet and telephone.

These funds are used to finance attendance at courses at a foreign institution (for one semester or the duration of a degree programme), private tuition with leading teachers, masterclasses, career-related competitions and high-calibre residencies.

Who can apply

  • Degree level: You must have completed at least a Bachelor’s degree. Current Bachelor’s students are not eligible to apply.
  • Field of study: You are studying an artistic subject, such as film, performing arts, music, fine art, architecture or design.
  • Your school: Your institution is state-run or state-recognised, Danish or foreign, for example a music conservatoire or an art college (BFA/MFA).
  • Recent graduates: You can also apply if you have completed your artistic training within the last three years.
  • Where you go: You are going abroad, outside Denmark. Stays within Denmark, research placements and work placements are not eligible for funding.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

You can apply at any time via the Foundation’s online portal. There is no fixed application deadline. Please organise your stay abroad before you apply and ensure you include all the necessary documents from the outset. The application process takes up to three to four months. The Foundation does not fund any part of a stay that has already ended by the time a decision is made.
