About this scholarship

Niels Brock Fonden grant for studying abroad

You get a grant to help pay for a study placement abroad. The foundation's board sets the amount for each applicant, so there is no fixed sum. You send a budget of your expected income and costs, and the board pays out from the part of its yearly returns reserved for stays abroad. The grant supports a semester abroad, a summer school or a traineeship lasting at least 14 weeks. A shorter stay can be accepted in special cases. The Niels Brock Fonden is a Danish foundation in Copenhagen, formed in 2016 from two older foundations.

Who can apply

  • School: You study now, or studied in the past, at a Niels Brock business college (an HHX handelsgymnasium in Denmark).
  • Where you go: Your placement is abroad, outside Denmark.
  • Type of stay: A semester, summer school or traineeship of at least 14 weeks.
  • Timing: Your stay should still lie ahead. The foundation funds a placement that is already finished only in rare cases.
  • Field of study: All subjects are welcome.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply, as long as you studied at a Niels Brock business college.

How to apply

You apply by email, sending everything in one combined PDF: a motivation letter, a budget, your Niels Brock diploma, transcripts, recommendations and your acceptance letter from the foreign institution. You can hand in the acceptance letter later if you do not have it yet. The deadline is 31 December each year, and the board decides at its meeting around 15 February the following year. You hear back by email only if you are accepted, as rejections are not sent.
