About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a one-off grant based on your financial need to cover the costs of your further education. No fixed amount is published; the amount will depend on your personal financial circumstances. The fund is administered by Nykøbing Katedralskole (NYKAT), a sixth-form college in Nykøbing Falster, Denmark. It combines three scholarships into a single application process. One of these, the ‘Civilingeniør Knud Højgaard Scholarship’, is primarily aimed at students at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), meaning that DTU students have a stronger claim to this portion of the funding.

Who can apply

  • Your school: You graduated from Nykøbing Katedralskole (STX or HF) in one of the last few years, or you are currently a pupil there in your final year.
  • Study status: You are in further education or about to start it.
  • Financial need: You require financial assistance. Please enclose a full overview of your financial situation: income, savings, debts and all dependants.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Nationality: Applicants of any nationality are welcome to apply. The key requirement is that you have attended Nykøbing Katedralskole.
  • DTU bonus: If you are studying at the Technical University of Denmark, you have priority access to part of the fund.

How to apply

Please complete the school’s application form and send it by email or post to Nykøbing Katedralskole by 15 April each year. Please enclose your tax assessment notice, certified examination certificates, your current school reports and a brief statement explaining your reasons for applying. You will receive a reply on the last Friday in June, at the school’s graduation ceremony.
