Communication grant from the Spanish Congress

You will receive 1,500 EUR gross per month for 12 months, i.e. 18,000 euros gross per year, plus social security contributions. This is a paid placement in the Communications Directorate of the Congreso de los Diputados, the Spanish House of Commons. You will be working on how the institution communicates its parliamentary activities. There are 6 places available, one of which is reserved for a person with a recognised disability of 33% or more. The internship period runs until 31 December 2026 and cannot be extended or split into shorter periods. During this period, you may not combine the internship with other grants, paid employment or unemployment benefit.

Who can apply

• Degree: You hold a university degree (Grado or Licenciatura) in Journalism (Periodismo) or Audiovisual Communication (Comunicación Audiovisual).
• Nationality: You are Spanish.
• Age: You were born after 1 January 1997.
• No long prior grant here: You have not received a similar scholarship from the Cortes Generales (Congress or Senate) for more than 6 months.
• Fitness for the tasks: You are physically and mentally capable of carrying out the work, and you have not been dismissed from the civil service as a result of disciplinary proceedings.

How to apply

Applications should be submitted to the Communications Directorate of the Congreso in Madrid – by email, in person or by registered post. The deadline for applications is 15 working days after the publication of the vacancy notice in the Official State Gazette (BOE), expected to be at the end of October. The selection process comprises two stages. Firstly, your qualifications will be assessed: this includes a postgraduate degree in journalism or communication, professional experience in communications departments or within the media, as well as proficiency in German, French or English at level B2 or higher. Subsequently, the 25 candidates with the highest scores will be invited to a face-to-face interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is very restrictive: only Spanish graduates in journalism or audiovisual communication born after 1997 are eligible, and there are only 6 places available, so the pool of applicants is smaller than for open scholarships. The selection process takes proven achievements into account, so postgraduate study and practical experience in the field of communication or in editorial offices make all the difference. If you clearly meet the criteria and can demonstrate relevant professional experience, your prospects are good.
