Autonomous Community of Galicia - Mobility Scholarships for non-EU Countries

What you get

You will receive a one-off grant to help fund a semester or year abroad outside the EU. The amount is 1,000 EUR. If funds remain, students who spend at least six months abroad may receive an additional 500 EUR. This supplementary grant is awarded on the basis of your average mark, until the funds have been exhausted. The grant is valid for one academic year and is paid as a one-off sum. You cannot receive it a second time. It is funded by the Xunta de Galicia, the regional government of Galicia in north-western Spain.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled at a public university in Galicia (Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña or Vigo) or at a UNED centre in Galicia (the Spanish Open University).
• Degree level: You are studying on a Bachelor’s degree programme (grao).
• Where you go: You are taking part in an official exchange programme to a country outside the EU, which has been approved by your home university. Erasmus+ exchanges are not included.
• You actually travel: You travel to the destination country in person.
• Not your home country: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply; however, you must not travel to a country of which you are a national.
• First time: You have not yet received this grant.
• Field of study: Open to all disciplines.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the Xunta’s electronic portal (procedure code ED441B). The deadline for applications is 29 June. Applicants will be ranked according to their average marks; therefore, higher marks will improve your position on the list.

How realistic are your chances?

Only students at Galician universities who are taking part in an exchange programme that is not organised under the EU or the Erasmus programme are eligible, so the pool of applicants is limited. Selection is based solely on your grade point average, so good grades are crucial. If you clearly meet the criteria and have a solid grade point average, your chances are good.
