Santander-URL Travel Bursaries

You will receive a one-off payment of 1,500 EUR for a study period outside Europe. This funding is aimed at students at the Universitat Ramon Llull (URL) in Barcelona who are taking part in an international exchange in the 2026–2027 academic year. For 2026, the university awards up to 89 scholarships, which are allocated among its faculties as follows: 35 for Esade, 25 for Blanquerna, 15 for IQS, 8 for the Pere Tarrés Faculty and 6 for La Salle. The URL and Banco Santander jointly fund the scholarships, and you may combine them with other similar grants.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled in the 2025–2026 academic year of a Bachelor’s degree programme at a university in URL.
• Where you go: You have been selected for an exchange programme outside Europe lasting at least one full month, for which academic credits will be awarded.
• Residence: You live in Spain. Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• No Erasmus+: You will not receive an Erasmus+ grant. That programme applies to Europe; this programme applies to destinations outside Europe.
• First-time only: You have never received a mobility grant (a grant for studying abroad) from Banco Santander or any other bank, arranged through the URL’s International Office.
• Grades: Selection is by your grade average on a 1-to-10 scale. If scores tie, the longer stay wins. Students who held a Spanish state grant in 2024-2025 get priority.

How to apply

Register and apply via the Santander Open Academy platform. Please also complete the online form at the URL provided and attach your identification number and a transcript showing your grade point average and the exchange institution to which you have been assigned. The application deadline is 16 March, and the results will be published on 1 June.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is very narrowly defined. You must already be a Bachelor’s student at the URL, have been selected for a non-Erasmus exchange outside Europe, and be living in Spain, meaning that only a specific group of students can take part. As up to 89 scholarships are awarded per faculty, your chances depend on how many valid applications your own faculty receives. If you clearly meet the eligibility criteria and have good grades, your chances are good, particularly if you received a government scholarship in your final year.
