What the UIC fee waivers give you

At the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona), a private university with campuses in Barcelona and Sant Cugat del Vallès, you will receive a discount of discount on your tuition fees. Depending on your circumstances, the discount ranges from 5% to 30% of the credits you have taken. There are four different types of discount available:

• Large or single-parent family: 10% A reduction in tuition fees for Bachelor’s, postgraduate and Master’s degree programmes if your family holds a valid Spanish certificate for large families or a special certificate for single parents.
• Sibling discount: 10% is waived if a sibling is also studying for a Bachelor’s degree at UIC; 20% applies in the case of a second sibling; 30% applies in the case of a third. Applies only to Bachelor’s degree programmes.
• Alumni: If you already hold a UIC degree, you are entitled to a 10% discount on postgraduate and Master’s programmes (5% for dentistry and PhD programmes). You will receive a 15% discount if you completed your degree in the immediately preceding year, with the exception of dentistry and doctoral programmes.
• Children of alumni: 5% Discount on Bachelor’s degree programmes if one parent has obtained a degree from UIC Barcelona or INEDE.

You cannot combine these discounts with one another or with the university’s scholarships for academic excellence (BEA). The only exception is the discount for large families or single parents, which you can combine with another discount.

Who can apply

• University: You are applying to UIC Barcelona or are already studying there.
• Which waiver fits you: You belong to one of the four groups listed above: an extended family or a single-parent family, a sibling of a current UIC undergraduate student, a UIC graduate, or the child of a UIC graduate.
• Field of study: Open to all disciplines, although the proportion of graduates from the field of dentistry is lower.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. To qualify for the family exemption, a Spanish certificate for large families or single parents is required; this means that this scheme applies to students living in Spain.

How to apply

Applications are made via UIC Barcelona, usually around the time of enrolment. The calls for applications for 2026/2027 began in early 2026. The university’s Student Services team will advise you individually on which scholarships and fee waivers you are eligible for.

How realistic are your chances?

These are not competitive scholarships, but automatic reductions linked to a specific personal circumstance: your marital status, a sibling studying at UIC, or a connection to an alumnus. If you meet one of these criteria and provide the relevant documentation, you will receive the discount, so your chances are virtually guaranteed. The downside is the amount of the discount: it is a percentage reduction rather than full funding.
