About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive up to 5,000 EUR per academic year to study at Rovira i Virgili University (URV) in Tarragona, Spain. You can renew the scholarship each year, in principle for up to five years: a four-year bachelor’s degree followed directly and without interruption by a one-year master’s degree. The Repsol Foundation and the URV Social Council (Consell Social) will each cover half of the costs. You can combine this scholarship with other public or private scholarships. In addition to the financial support, you will take part in mentoring and support programmes organised by the Social Council. Mentoring means that you will be supported by experienced advisers throughout your studies. Only four new scholarships are awarded each year.

Who can apply

  • Where you are now: At the time of applying, you must be in your final year of the Bachillerato (Spanish upper secondary education) or a higher vocational training programme (Ciclo Formativo de Grado Superior).
  • Where you will study: You are planning to start your first degree at the URV in 2025–26. If you win, you must have been offered a place at the URV and enrol on the degree programme for which you applied.
  • Grades: Your university entrance grade is 7.5 or higher (on a 10-point scale).
  • Financial need: Your family income is below the threshold set by the Spanish Ministry of Education for the general study grant.
  • Field of study: Any topic is fine.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. If you are not an EU citizen, you will need a valid residence permit; temporary residence status is not sufficient.

How to apply

Please submit the application form and your supporting documents to the URV by 30 June. A committee will assess each application in terms of financial circumstances, academic results and personal circumstances. You may be invited to an interview so that your family and financial circumstances can be better assessed.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is awarded on a highly selective basis. Only four new scholarships are awarded each year, and you must be a school leaver from the Tarragona region with an excellent entrance exam result and a demonstrable financial need. This keeps the pool of applicants small. If you clearly meet all the eligibility criteria and can provide strong evidence of your financial need, your chances are good: the selection committee places particular emphasis on financial and personal hardship, alongside academic results. In the event of a tie, female applicants and STEM students are given preference.
