LENS School of Visual Arts - LENS Grant for Photography

Benefit

You have been awarded the full tuition (7,250 EUR) covered for the MAPA Master’s programme in ‘Contemporary Photography’ at LENS Escuela de Artes Visuales in Madrid. This is a one-year programme which you can undertake from October, either on-site in Madrid or online. The scholarship covers 100% of the tuition fees. The runner-up (Accésit) will instead receive a discount of 50% on the same Master’s programme. The scholarship cannot be paid out in cash.

Eligibility

• Age: You are at least 18 years old.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome. Previous winners have come from Peru, Argentina, Spain, Colombia and Mexico.
• Prior degree: You do not need a specific qualification.
• Your work: You should submit a photography project comprising between 10 and 15 images – whether completed or still in progress – along with a project description, a CV and a personal statement.
• One entry: You may only submit one project.

How to apply

Please email your project to the school as a single PDF file by the deadline of 15 February. An independent panel comprising photographers and MAPA course leaders will select the winner. The result will be announced on the school’s website and on social media.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a single prize awarded for a single photography project. In 2025, over 250 entries were received from across Latin America and Europe, so the competition is fierce. Your grades or background are irrelevant. A clear, coherent series with a compelling concept is key to success. If your project stands out, you have a real chance of winning, but only one applicant receives the full scholarship each year.
