About this scholarship

What you get

For a paid placement with Spain’s ‘Patrimonio Nacional’, the government agency responsible for managing the royal palaces and monasteries, you will receive 1,227 EUR per month (before tax and social security contributions). The placement lasts approximately 9 months. You will work in a department ranging from human resources to art conservation. The placement is offered by the Consejo de Administración del Patrimonio Nacional to help university graduates gain practical experience and enter the labour market.

Who can apply

  • Degree: You must hold a university degree obtained in the academic year 2009/2010 or later. Older degrees will not be considered. A foreign degree must be officially recognised in Spain.
  • Field of study: Each work placement is assigned to a subject area. The 2014 round covered law, industrial relations and public administration; computer science and telecommunications engineering; geography and history, humanities or art history; biology; and law in combination with business administration or economics.
  • Nationality: You are a national of Spain, the EU or the EEA, or a foreign national lawfully resident in Spain. If Spanish is not your mother tongue and you are unable to provide evidence of your language proficiency, you must pass a language interview.
  • No earlier funding: You have not yet received a grant from Patrimonio Nacional.
  • No other income: This benefit cannot be combined with any other similar benefit, paid employment or unemployment benefit.

How to apply

The application deadline is 26 January. Please submit an application form, a transcript of your grades, a brief CV and evidence of your achievements. You may only apply for one placement. A selection panel will assess you on the basis of your grades, relevant experience, other academic achievements and language skills, and may invite some applicants to an interview.

How realistic are your chances?

The selection criteria are very strict: there are only six internship places, each restricted to a specific field of study and each requiring a recently obtained university degree, meaning that only a few applicants apply for each place. If your degree matches the specific field required for an internship exactly and you can demonstrate relevant experience, your chances are good. Good grades and language skills will give you an advantage when your application is assessed by the selection committee.
