About this scholarship

Erasmus Supplementary Allowance (Junta de Extremadura)

In addition to your regular EU Erasmus+ grant, you will receive 200 EUR per month for a study or work placement abroad lasting up to 7 months, making a total of up to 1,400 EUR. The Junta de Extremadura, the regional government of Extremadura in Spain, pays this grant to enable its students to undertake an Erasmus+ placement in another European country. It covers two options: Modality A for a study exchange and Modality B for a work placement in a company, institution or organisation abroad.

Who can apply

  • Erasmus+ place: You have already been selected for an Erasmus+ study or work placement during the current academic year. In the case of a work placement, this must have commenced within the last 12 months prior to the publication of the call for applications.
  • University: You are studying at the University of Extremadura. You may also study at another state university in Spain if your course is not offered there or if you have not met the entry requirements. In this case, your family must be officially registered as living in Extremadura.
  • Field of study: Open to all degree programmes. Students enrolled on a full-time degree programme in social work at other public universities are also eligible to apply.
  • Nationality: Applicants of any nationality are welcome to apply. What matters is your connection to Extremadura, not your passport.
  • Grades: You will need a minimum grade point average, which varies depending on the subject area – ranging from around 5.13 for engineering and architecture to 6.00 for the arts, humanities, social sciences and law. Master’s and PhD students are assessed on the basis of the grade point average of the degree with which they were admitted.
  • One-time only: You can receive this grant once, for a single academic year. You cannot combine it with a corresponding Erasmus supplement from another Spanish region.

How to apply

Complete the application form online at erasmusuniversidad.educarex.es, then print it out, sign it and submit it, together with your supporting documents, to an official registration office. The application period for 2026-2027 runs from 8 May to 8 June 2026. There will be no interview. Applicants will be ranked according to their grade point average, and those with the highest grades will receive a grant.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is restricted to students from Extremadura who have already secured an Erasmus+ place, so the pool of applicants is small. The ranking is based solely on your average mark, and the grant amount is fixed. Your chances therefore depend on whether you achieve the minimum mark required for your degree programme and can hold your own against the other applicants in this regard. If you meet the requirements and apply within the application period, your chances are good.
