UGR Master Scholarships

You will receive a grant of up to 600 EUR for one academic year to cover the public tuition fees for an official Master’s degree programme. The University of Granada also awards a separate canteen allowance, which entitles you to one meal per day in the student canteens. Both benefits are provided through the university’s own support programme, which supplements government grants for students who are unable to cover the costs of their Master’s programme from their own resources.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled on an official Master’s degree programme at the University of Granada.
• Enrolment: You are a full-time student. The only exception is if you are simply completing your final remaining credit points.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Nationality: All nationalities welcome.
• Financial need: Your income and assets are below the thresholds set out in the Spanish regulations for 2025-2026.
• No state grant: You are not eligible for a grant from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (MEFPD). The university grant will only be awarded if the state grant is not granted.
• Grades: You have passed enough modules. To be eligible for the tuition fee grant, you need to have passed between 50 and 70 per cent of your modules, depending on your degree programme. To be eligible for the canteen allowance, you need to have passed at least 40 per cent.
• Fees paid: You have paid your tuition fees, unless a report from social services justifies an exemption.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the University of Granada’s website. The application deadline is 5 December (23:59). If there is a high number of applicants, the university will initially rank applicants according to their previous grades and then according to the lowest per capita income.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is restricted to Master’s students at the University of Granada who can demonstrate financial need and do not receive a government grant; the number of places is limited each year (approximately 70 grants to cover tuition fees). As a result, the pool of applicants is smaller than for an open scholarship. So, if you clearly meet the income and academic performance requirements and apply by the deadline, your chances are good. Good previous grades are the most helpful factor here, as they are decisive in determining who is awarded a place if demand exceeds the budget.
