About this scholarship
Benefit
You will receive a sum of one-off payment of up to 1,500 EUR to cover the costs of your studies. If you can demonstrate that there is a serious risk of you dropping out of your studies, the amount may be increased to 2,000 euros. The University of Granada awards this grant to students in difficult financial, social or family circumstances who are not eligible for a government scholarship or any other university grant. The amount of the grant depends on your household’s per capita income, whether you have to live away from your parents’ home, your academic results and the severity of your circumstances.
Eligibility
- University: You are enrolled on an official Bachelor’s (Grado) or Master’s degree programme at the University of Granada this year.
- Course load: You are taking at least 24 credits, or the number of credits you still need to complete your degree.
- Progress: In your final year of study, you passed at least 30% of the credit points you took.
- Field of study: Open to all subjects.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. If you are an international student with a residence permit for study purposes, you must provide evidence that your income has fallen suddenly and drastically this year.
- Financial need: Your household income is below the government’s grant thresholds, for example around 13,900 EUR for a single-person household or around 38,200 EUR for a household of four. You are also in a difficult situation, for example due to one parent being unemployed, as a single parent, due to domestic or gender-based violence, the loss of a parent, or an illness in the family.
- No other funding: You are not currently receiving a scholarship from a government department, under the Erasmus+ programme, or any other public or private scholarship this academic year.
- No equal degree: You do not yet hold a qualification at the same or a higher level than the one you are currently studying for, nor are you yet in a position to obtain one.
- Not an exchange student: You are not an exchange student from another university studying in Granada as part of a mobility programme.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted online via the University of Granada’s electronic portal (Sede Electrónica). Please attach evidence of the financial, social and family circumstances of all members of your household via 16. The deadline for the current year is 9 January. Staff at the Social Services Advisory Service will assess each case individually and may request further documentation if necessary.
How realistic are your chances?
This scholarship is aimed at students in Granada who are facing genuine financial hardship; as a result, the pool of applicants is smaller than for open scholarships. With a total budget of up to 600,000 EUR and several award rounds per year, there is room for many scholarship recipients. If you clearly meet the income thresholds, can prove that you are in genuine financial hardship and submit your application by the deadline, your chances are good.
