About this grant / loan

Language exam refund from UAB

You will be refunded up to 160 EUR of the amount you paid for a language test. If the test cost less than 160 EUR, you will be refunded the amount you actually paid. The money comes from the UAB Language Service, which organises this refund every year to help students demonstrate their language proficiency following a period abroad. The total amount for each round is 3,000 EUR; so if many people apply, the amount will be divided amongst them.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are enrolled on a Bachelor’s, official Master’s or PhD programme at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) in the relevant academic year.
  • Internship abroad: You have completed a work placement abroad that counts towards your degree. This may have been undertaken as part of an Erasmus+ or UAB exchange scholarship, or through a work placement approved by your UAB centre. In the latter case, you must submit a certificate from the company or organisation.
  • Language exam: You have taken and passed a language test organised by UAB or a language centre based on the UAB campus.
  • Field of study: Anyone can apply.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying at UAB.
  • One per person: You can only receive this refund once per round.

How to apply

Please submit the application form and your supporting documents in person at the UAB Secretariat or online via the university’s electronic office. The deadline is 24 November. Applications will be assessed on a first-come, first-served basis as they are received, so there is no fixed date for the announcement of results.

How realistic are your chances?

The eligibility criteria are strict: you must be studying at UAB, have completed an internship abroad that counts towards your degree, and have passed a language test recognised by UAB. As this means only a small group of students are eligible, competition is limited. If you clearly meet these criteria and can provide proof of your exam results, you stand a good chance of receiving at least part of the 160 EUR – particularly if you apply before the fund runs out.
