What the Cuatrecasas - Innovative Lawyers Scholarship gives you

You will receive up to 50% of your tuition fees for the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) at IE Law School in Madrid. The scholarship is renewed annually and will therefore cover the entire duration of your studies, provided you continue to meet the criteria. In addition to the financial support, you will be assigned a mentor (an experienced lawyer who will guide you) at the law firm Cuatrecasas, undertake an internship at the firm during one of your final two years of study, and have the opportunity to build a network with leading legal professionals. The scholarship is awarded to just one student per year. It is funded by Cuatrecasas and administered by the IE Foundation.

Who can apply

• Degree: You have been admitted to the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) programme at IE Law School, which is taught entirely in English.
• Grades: You have excellent academic results.
• Your profile: You show a strong entrepreneurial, business-minded outlook. This is the main quality the award looks for.
• Financial need: As well as your grades, your financial situation also plays a part.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

First get admitted to the LL.B. Then submit the IE Financial Aid Application online before your programme starts. The stated deadline is 30 April. Some IE Foundation scholarships also ask for a short essay in the "Additional Documentation" section, so check whether this one does. Selection is based on both grades and financial need.

How realistic are your chances?

Only one student per year receives this award, which is linked to a single, highly selective law degree programme. The pool of applicants is therefore small but strong. If you are admitted to the LL.B. programme with outstanding grades and can demonstrate genuine entrepreneurial success, you will meet the exact criteria that are decisive for this award. Applying early and clearly outlining your financial hardship will be to your advantage.
