"Impuls" grants of the Autonomous University of Barcelona

You will receive up to 3,000 EUR for one academic year to cover the additional costs you incur as a result of your disability whilst studying at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). The money is intended to fund two specific services. Firstly, a personal assistant to support you with your studies and day-to-day activities on campus, up to 7.50 euros per hour. Secondly, travel to and from the university, should your disability prevent you from using regular public transport independently: up to 0.26 euros per kilometre when using your own car, as well as occasional costs for accessible taxis. The funding is administered by the Fundació Autònoma Solidària (FAS) in conjunction with the University’s Social Council. You may combine it with other public or private grants, provided that the total amount does not exceed your actual costs for the year.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled in an official Bachelor's (Grau) or Master's programme at the UAB.
• Disability: You hold an official disability card and have been assessed as requiring Level II or III care under Spanish law 39/2006. This status means that it is legally recognised that you require extensive support in your daily life.
• Field of study: Any topic is allowed.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Past grants: If you have previously received a stimulus grant, you must provide evidence that you have used these funds correctly.

How to apply

You should apply by email to the PIUNE office, submitting the signed application form, your disability card and your current certificate of enrolment. The application round opens each autumn. For 2025-2026, the application deadline is 12 November. The FAS will review the documents and make a decision in December. There is no interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is very selective. You must be studying at UAB and provide evidence of recognised supervision status at Level II or III; consequently, only a small group of students are eligible. In recent years, seven to eight scholarships have been awarded from this fund per cycle. If you clearly meet these requirements and submit a complete application by the deadline, your chances are good.
