Travel grant for scientific conferences (University of Zaragoza)

You get a one-off travel grant of 200 to 400 EUR towards the cost of travelling to a scientific conference where you present an accepted talk or paper. The amount depends on your destination: 200 EUR within mainland Spain, 250 EUR for the Spanish islands, Ceuta, Melilla and Portugal, and 400 EUR for any other country. The grant covers transport only, not the conference registration fee. It is paid by the Vice-Rectorate for Scientific Policy of the University of Zaragoza. If several authors share one paper, only one of them gets the grant, and the co-authors choose who.

Who can apply

• Who you are: You are a fixed-term teaching staff member, a contract-based research staff member or a PhD student on a contract at the University of Zaragoza.
• Degree level: You are working towards a PhD or have already obtained a PhD.
• What you present: Your presentation or paper has already been accepted for an academic conference. Online conferences do not count.
• No other funding: You do not have any further financial resources available for the trip, for example from a research project or a commission.
• Field of study: Any subject can apply.
• What does not count: Research visits, courses, Master’s or PhD programmes, guest lectures and panel discussions are excluded from this.

How to apply

You apply online through the university portal. Log in with an electronic certificate, the Cl@ve system or your university account. You can submit one application, for trips made during 2025, by 23 February 2026. Results are published on the university's official noticeboard.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is only available to certain university staff members who are giving a presentation at a conference; the target group is therefore small. The total budget is 90,000 EUR, and each grant amounts to several hundred euros, meaning that a large number of grants can be awarded. If you belong to one of the eligible staff categories, have a paper that has been accepted, and are not receiving any other funding, your chances are good.
