What the University of La Laguna covers

You will receive a scholarship that covers your public tuition fees for one academic year of postgraduate study at University of La Laguna (ULL) in Tenerife, Spain. It applies to official Master’s and PhD programmes, covering both the teaching and research phases. The scholarship does not involve a fixed amount per person. Instead, it covers your tuition fees, meaning the amount of funding depends on your programme of study. The university allocates funds from a total budget of up to 20,000 EUR for the entire period from 2025 to 2026, and awards will be made until the funds have been exhausted. The university’s student services organisation (Vicerrectorado de Estudiantes) administers the programme and allocates the funds based on financial need and academic performance.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled on an official Master’s or PhD programme at the University of La Laguna.
• Master's students: If you are starting a new degree programme, enrol for the entire first year of study. If you are continuing a degree programme worth more than 60 ECTS credits, enrol for all the remaining credits.
• Doctorate students: You are enrolled and registered for academic supervision (tutela academica) for the current academic year. You may only claim this funding once per dissertation.
• No degree already: You do not yet hold an official Master’s degree, unless you are due to complete your Master’s programme this year, and you have not yet obtained a doctoral degree.
• Financial need: You will be categorised based on your per capita household income. Your chances are best if this income is up to 10,000 euros, then up to 15,000 euros, and finally up to 20,000 euros.
• Grades: Within each income bracket, you will be categorised according to your average mark on a scale of 10.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.

How to apply

You apply online through the ULL service portal (Portal de Servicios). You upload your supporting documents, including proof of household income. For the 2025-2026 round the deadline was 8 April 2026 at 23:59.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is awarded on a very selective basis. You must be enrolled at a specific university and demonstrate genuine financial need, which keeps the number of applicants low. If your per capita household income falls within the lowest income bracket and your grades are good, your chances are good. As the total budget is limited to 20,000 EUR and awards will cease once it has been exhausted, you should apply early and provide clear documentation of your income.
