University of León - Housing Grants for Academically Excellent Students

What you get

You will receive a discount on your rent. The grant of covers half (50%) of the cost of a room with full board applies to a twin room with a shared bathroom in a University of León hall of residence. You will pay the other half yourself. The grant covers 9 months, i.e. the entire academic year. Ten grants will be awarded from a total fund of 30,000 EUR: six at the Colegio Mayor San Isidoro in León and four at the Colegio Mayor La Tebaida in Ponferrada. They will be divided between first-year students and students renewing their grant from the previous year. The University of León runs the halls of residence and provides both accommodation and meals.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled on an official Bachelor’s degree programme (Grado) at the University of León for 2026/2027.
• Residence application: You have applied for a place at the Colegio Mayor San Isidoro (León) or at La Tebaida (Ponferrada).
• Grades (first-year students): Your entry mark (nota de acceso, excluding optional entrance examinations) is 8.0 or higher, and you are enrolled for the entire first year of your degree.
• Grades (upper-year students): You have earned 60 credit points (or the number of credit points still required to complete your degree) and, depending on your field of study, have passed a specified proportion of the credit points from the final year: 100% in the humanities and social sciences, as well as in law; 90% in health sciences; and 80% in the natural sciences, as well as in engineering, architecture or technical degree programmes.
• Conduct: No disciplinary measures have been taken against you under the house rules.
• Prior funding: You have not yet received this grant during the last two academic years.
• Field of study: All Bachelor’s degree subjects are eligible.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

You apply online through a Google Form linked on the university's student services website and attach your academic transcript. The deadline for 2026/2027 is 15 July 2026 at 14:00. A committee ranks applicants by entry mark (first-year students) or by last year's average grade (upper-year students) and checks the data against university records.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is awarded on a highly selective basis. There are only ten scholarships, which are limited to two places at a university, and you need very good grades (a 8.0 grade or a high pass rate). This keeps the pool of applicants small. So, if you clearly meet the grade requirements, have secured a place at university and are studying in León, your prospects are good. Selection is based solely on grades, so a better academic record directly improves your chances.
