About this scholarship
Benefit
You will receive support towards paying your university tuition fees and other related public charges if you suddenly find yourself in financial difficulty whilst studying. There is no fixed amount. The level of support depends on the fees you owe. It may cover the credit points taken this year, waive administrative charges for unpaid tuition fees, top up an existing ‘Beca Equidad’ fee reduction, or cover the cost of repeated credit points that are not covered by your general scholarship. The programme is run by Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona. It is funded from the university’s own resources as well as from donations from companies, student groups and students.
Eligibility
- Where you study: You are enrolled at one of the UPF’s own centres in Barcelona. Affiliated centres (centros adscritos) do not count.
- Degree level: You are enrolled on an official Bachelor’s (Grado) or Master’s degree programme.
- Field of study: Any topic is fine.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
- Financial need: Due to a sudden, one-off circumstance, you are unable to pay your fees either in full or in part.
- Cause of the problem: The hardship must not be the result of the person’s own decisions, such as moving out of their parents’ home.
- First-timers first: The grant is generally awarded only once, with priority given to those who have never received it before.
How to apply
You should submit your application via the online form on the UPF’s electronic portal (Sede electrónica) and attach supporting documents that substantiate your circumstances. For 2025-26, you can submit an application from 2 March to 31 March 2026 at 24:00. Your application cannot be assessed without the required supporting documents.
How realistic are your chances?
This grant is intended exclusively for UPF students who find themselves in a genuine, sudden financial emergency; consequently, the pool of eligible applicants is naturally small. If you clearly meet these criteria and can provide evidence of your financial emergency, your chances are good, particularly if you are applying for the first time. A well-documented application is more important than a polished one, and the more donations the fund receives, the more students it can support.
