About this scholarship

What the grant gives you

Should a sudden financial emergency within your family jeopardise your ability to continue your studies, the ESDi Higher School of Design in Sabadell (near Barcelona) can step in to provide support. Assistance is provided in one of two forms, decided on a case-by-case basis: either as a scholarship or a tuition fee reduction, which does not need to be repaid, or as an interest-free loan (‘honour loan’), which is repaid at a later date. There is no fixed amount. FUNDIT, the foundation behind ESDi, assesses each situation and determines the level of support accordingly. The funding is valid for one year and covers all ESDi courses, from design programmes to specialisation diplomas and Master’s programmes.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are already enrolled at the ESDi, which is affiliated with the Universitat Ramon Llull. New applicants cannot apply.
  • Field of study: Every ESDi degree programme, including design and textile degree programmes.
  • The emergency: Your family is facing a sudden, serious and unforeseen financial problem, such as a loss of income or the death of the family member who was earning that income.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

Submit an application to the ESDi Academic Secretariat. Describe your family circumstances and enclose the relevant supporting documents. As these are unforeseen emergencies, there is no annual application deadline. You can submit your application as soon as the need arises. FUNDIT will review your case within a week and decide whether, and in what form, support will be granted.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competition to be won against others. It is an emergency measure for students enrolled at ESDi who find themselves in a genuine, documented family emergency. If you clearly meet this specific criterion and can provide evidence of the sudden emergency, your case will be assessed on an individual basis. The amount and form of support will depend entirely on FUNDIT’s assessment of your situation.
