UCJC income-based scholarship (Colaboración por ayuda económica)

You will receive a grant of up to 40% off your tuition fees for one academic year. This covers both enrolment fees and tuition fees. The exact amount depends on how many scholarships are awarded in this round. The Camilo José Cela University (UCJC) in Madrid awards this scholarship to students who require financial support due to their family circumstances. You may combine it with government or other institutional funding, as well as with a second UCJC scholarship. In this case, the lower-value scholarship will be applied in full and the second scholarship will be applied up to the amount of 50%. You must reapply each year.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled on an official bachelor’s degree programme (Grado) at UCJC.
• Study phase: You must have been enrolled for at least one year. Students in their first or final year of study are not eligible to apply. Students in their final year may instead apply for a repayable loan known as the ‘Crédito al Honor’.
• Field of study: Open to all fields of study. Medicine and dentistry are generally excluded, unless a scholarship is specifically advertised for these subjects.
• Grades: You have passed all the modules you enrolled in during the last academic year.
• Financial need: Your family’s net income last year must be below a specified threshold. The threshold increases with the size of the household: approximately 16,836 EUR for one person, 46,316 EUR for four people, up to 63,997 EUR for eight people. It increases by 20% if a family member requires care.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

Firstly, you must be enrolled at UCJC. You then apply online via the ‘MyUCJC’ platform and submit your income and family details. The application deadline is 31 July of the year in which your academic year begins. A scholarship committee will review the applications and publish the results on ‘MyUCJC’. Its decision is final.

How realistic are your chances?

The eligibility criteria for this scholarship are quite strict: you must already be studying at the UCJC, have completed your first year of study but not yet be in your final year, have passed all your modules, and meet the income thresholds. This means that the number of eligible students is limited. So, if you clearly meet these conditions and can provide proof of your family’s income, your prospects are good. The exact amount of the reduction depends on how many scholarships are awarded; it is therefore advisable to apply early.
