About this scholarship

SEPI Enterprise Initiation Grants

As a university graduate, you will receive 1,100 EUR gross per month or 1,000 EUR gross per month if you have completed a higher vocational qualification (Formación Profesional de Grado Superior). The scholarship runs for 6 months. The company may extend it once for a further 6 months, bringing the total duration to up to 12 months. During the funding period, you will be covered by the general Spanish social security system. The grant funds your first work placement with a partner company or institution in Spain – whether public or private – so that you can gain practical experience in your field of specialisation. The programme is run by the Fundación SEPI, a public foundation which has placed more than 20,000 graduates since 1980.

Who can apply

  • Qualification: You have obtained a university degree (Grado, Licenciatura, Master’s or equivalent) or a higher vocational qualification. You may also apply if you are no more than 30 ECTS credits short of completing your degree.
  • Where you studied: You have obtained your qualification from an educational institution officially recognised in Spain. A foreign qualification is only recognised if it has been officially validated by the Spanish Ministry.
  • Field of study: There are many relevant disciplines, including business administration, economics, law, engineering, natural sciences, computer science, communication studies, design and architecture. Your exact qualifications must be listed in the current job advertisement.
  • No work experience yet: You have not yet held any paid employment related to your qualifications. Work placements (as part of your studies or otherwise) and apprenticeship contracts do not count as work experience.
  • Nationality: EU citizens are eligible to apply. Non-EU citizens may also apply, provided they hold a qualification from a Spanish or officially recognised institution.
  • Age: You must be 30 or younger, and you must prove your age. Each call can set its own limit, so check the current call.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the Fundación SEPI website. Applications sent by email will not be accepted. There are two application rounds per year, with deadlines on 7 October and 8 March. Once the deadline has passed, the foundation carries out a pre-selection process and invites applicants to an interview; it then sends the final funding offer by email.
