About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a one-off payment of about 1,160 EUR (£1,000) as a contribution towards your accommodation costs during your first year at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. The amount will be paid directly into your bank account. There is no limit on the number of grants available: every student who meets the eligibility criteria will receive this grant.

Who can apply

  • Level: You are a new undergraduate student starting your degree at the University of Strathclyde this academic year.
  • Study mode: You are a full-time student.
  • Where you are from: Your fee status applies to England, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland or Wales. Students from Scotland and from overseas are not eligible to apply.
  • Tuition fee: You pay the full annual fee of £9,790.
  • Field of study: Virtually any field of study is eligible, from engineering and the natural sciences to business, law, the humanities and the social sciences.
  • Accommodation: You live in a student hall of residence, have been allocated accommodation with a private provider by the university’s accommodation office, or applied for a place in a student hall of residence before 20 August 2026 and were placed on the waiting list or your application was rejected.
  • No fee scholarship yet: You are not currently receiving a scholarship from the faculty that reduces your annual tuition fees.

How to apply

There is no separate application process. The University will automatically assess your eligibility based on your application for accommodation. Please therefore apply for accommodation by 20 August 2026. If you meet the criteria, you will receive an email at your Strathclyde email address. All eligible applicants will receive a response by mid-October.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competition. There is no set number of places, so anyone who meets the criteria will be offered a place. If you are a full-time first-year student from England, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland or Wales, paying the full tuition fees and have submitted your accommodation application on time, you’re in. Simply apply for accommodation before the deadline on 20 August.
