About this scholarship

Placement Scholarship at Brunel University

You will receive a full tuition-fee waiver of about 1,160 EUR (1,000 GBP) for your internship year. This is the year of a dual study programme during which you work in a company instead of studying. The waiver covers the full tuition fees for this one year. It applies for exactly 12 months: the third year of a standard four-year dual degree programme or the fourth year of a dual MEng, MMath or MFinMath programme. Brunel University London awarded this grant to students who had commenced their studies in the year 2014. There was no set number of places, so anyone who met the criteria received the grant.

Who can apply

  • University: You’re studying at Brunel University London.
  • Course type: You are on a work-study programme that includes a one-year work placement.
  • Field of study: Any subject.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Background: You belong to at least one under-represented group: you are a former care home resident, come from a region where few people go to university, are a mature student (21 or older when you started your degree), have a low household income, a disability (including dyslexia) or parents who did not go to university.

How realistic are your chances?

There was no set quota, so any student who met both conditions was granted the exemption. Applicants were not in competition with one another. Anyone studying a sandwich degree at Brunel University who belonged to one of the under-represented groups was virtually guaranteed the funding. This scholarship was linked to the 2014 intake and is no longer available.
