P.K. Juntunen Fund scholarship

You will receive a one-off grant to support your studies or research at the Faculty of Technology at the University of Oulu. The foundation does not disclose a fixed amount for this fund. Across all funds, most grants range between 3,000 and 5,000 EUR and are paid as a one-off lump sum. The money comes from the P.K. Juntunen Fund, one of 25 donor funds within the University of Oulu Scholarship Foundation (Oulun yliopiston tukisäätiö). The foundation has been supporting students and researchers at the university since 1960.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are a student at the Faculty of Technology at the University of Oulu.
• Your topic: Your work focuses on the economics of construction, especially the conditions in northern Finland. This counts whether you write a Master's thesis or do postgraduate research.
• For doctoral grants: You are enrolled at the University of Oulu Graduate School (UniOGS) and have an approved PhD study plan. Around one year after starting your research, you can apply for your first grant. You may receive a maximum of two grants in total.

How to apply

Applications are submitted online via the Foundation’s funding system. Calls for applications for Master’s thesis grants are issued four times a year: in March, May, September and December. For 2026, the September application window runs from 15 to 30 September. Scholarships for PhD students are advertised once a year, usually in April. For this, your supervisor submits a recommendation via the system, after which the Foundation’s Executive Board decides on the award.
