Timo Sahi Fund - Scholarship

Timo Sahi Fund travel grant

You get a one-off travel grant of up to 1,000 EUR for a single trip linked to your studies or research. The money comes from the Timo Sahi Fund, one of over 350 funds managed by the University of Helsinki Funds. You must use the grant within three years of the award date.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are a student or researcher at the University of Helsinki.
• Career stage: You are a young scientist.
• Field of study: You work in public health promotion (especially physical education or nutrition) or in ethnology.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are enrolled at the University of Helsinki.
• If you work for the university: University staff do not normally receive funding, but this type of travel and mobility grant is an exception.
• How you are judged: The selection process takes into account how far you have progressed in your studies (the credits and marks you have achieved so far), how important the trip is for your work, and to what extent you need the money for it.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the University of Helsinki’s funding portal, which is available in Finnish, Swedish and English. The application period runs from 14 January to 6 February 2026. You will be notified of the outcome by the end of April.
