Guillemiau-Rousseau Foundation prize

You receive a one-off prize of at least 4,000 EUR, awarded by the City of Paris. Two prizes are given out each year. A prize can go to a single winner or be split between several equally strong candidates. If a prize is not awarded in a given year, it carries over to the next.

Who can apply

• Gender: Only women can apply.
• Age: You are 26 or younger on the application deadline.
• Where you live: You have lived in the Ile-de-France region (the greater Paris area) for at least 5 years.
• School: You passed your baccalauréat (the French school-leaving exam) at a school in Ile-de-France.
• Degree: You hold a full licence (a three-year Bachelor's degree) from a university in Ile-de-France in one of these subjects: classical literature, modern literature, English language and civilisation, or applied foreign languages with English as first language.
• Career goal: You are enrolled for the CAPES, the French competitive exam to become a secondary school teacher, in classical literature, modern literature or English.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

You send your application to the Mayor of Paris before 31 December. A selection committee, including representatives of the City of Paris and the Paris education authority, decides who wins.

How realistic are your chances?

This prize is cut very narrowly. You must be a woman under 26, have lived in the Paris region for at least 5 years, hold a specific literature or English degree from a regional university, and be sitting the teaching exam. Few people meet all of these at once, so the pool of eligible applicants is small. If you clearly fit every condition and apply on time, your chances are good.
