About this grant / loan
Student Housing Allowance (AILE) of the City of Paris
You will receive a one-off payment of 500 to 1,000 EUR to help you move into your first flat in Paris. The exact amount depends on your financial situation. You may only spend this amount on furnishing your flat: furniture, household appliances, as well as computers, telephones or other digital devices. The City of Paris funds this grant, and it is administered by the CROUS de Paris (the public student services organisation). You are only eligible to receive this grant once during your studies.
Who can apply
- Financial support: You are already receiving a state grant based on social criteria (bourse sur critères sociaux), the annual ASAA allowance or the 1-euro student meal scheme (with or without a grant).
- Where you study: You are enrolled at a higher education institution in the Paris, Créteil or Versailles school districts (the school districts covering Paris and the surrounding area).
- Your flat: You have a private tenancy agreement for a flat in Paris, signed between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026, with a term of at least nine months. Rooms in state-run student halls of residence are not permitted.
- Shared flats: If you are sharing a flat with others, your name must be included in the tenancy agreement.
- Field of study: Any subject.
- Nationality: Any nationality.
How to apply
Fill in the application form, gather your documents and send everything by email to the CROUS de Paris. You will need your tenancy agreement, confirmation of your grant, proof of your residence in Paris, your bank details and a signed statement detailing how you intend to spend the money. The deadline is 15 June 2026. Any applications received after this date will be automatically rejected.
How realistic are your chances?
This grant is very strictly targeted. You must already be receiving social assistance or the 1-euro meal allowance, be studying in the Paris region, and be able to provide a signed private tenancy agreement in your name. This excludes many students, meaning the eligible group is smaller than for open scholarships. If you clearly meet all the conditions, apply well in advance of the deadline, as payment depends on the remaining budget and late applications will be rejected.
