About this scholarship
What you get
You will receive 1,000 to 1,500 EUR per month to cover your living expenses during a research stay of 3 to 10 months in a laboratory abroad. The Institut Pasteur will also cover your travel expenses, provided you do not already have a separate travel grant. The funding is provided by the Fondation Pierre Ledoux – Jeunesse Internationale in collaboration with the International Department of the Institut Pasteur. You will be working in a laboratory within the Pasteur Network in a developing country on topics relating to infectious diseases, such as clinical and epidemiological studies, disease transmission, medical analyses and hygiene.
Who can apply
- Nationality: You are a French citizen.
- Age: You are between 16 and 35 years old.
- Field: You are studying or working in the fields of biology, medicine, pharmacy or veterinary medicine, for example as a student, biologist, doctor, pharmacist or vet.
- Where you go: Your work placement will take place in a laboratory within the Pasteur Network in a developing country.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted via the Institut Pasteur using the application form provided there and the list of internship opportunities. There are two application rounds per year, with deadlines on 15 May and 15 November. Applicants will be notified of the outcome approximately one month after the deadline.
How realistic are your chances?
This scholarship is very specific. You must be a French national, aged between 16 and 35, working in a biomedical field, and willing to undertake your placement in a laboratory within the Pasteur Network in a developing country. As a result, the pool of applicants remains small compared to open scholarships. If you clearly meet these criteria and can present a sound internship plan, your chances are good. Two selection rounds per year also offer you a second chance.
