Vaucluse Department student support

The Department of Vaucluse (84) in southern France offers financial help to students from the area. The support comes in three parts. The departmental grant tops up your national state scholarship if you study a traditional, unpaid course. Its exact amount is not published. You can also apply for an interest-free loan of 1,600 EUR. You repay it only after you finish your studies, in one payment or in up to 20 instalments. If you study abroad, you can claim a mobility grant, paid in two parts: before and after the stay.

Who can apply

• Where you live: You live in the Vaucluse department (84) or your parents are tax residents there.
• Age: You are under 26.
• Field of study: All subjects are open.
• For the departmental grant: You are already receiving a state grant (bourse d'Etat) and are enrolled on a traditional, non-remunerated degree programme.
• For the interest-free loan: Your household’s taxable net income is capped at 1,000 EUR per month, plus 500 EUR for each additional person in the household and each additional child attending higher education.
• For the mobility grant: Your university has selected you under an exchange agreement. The stay will last for at least 2 months in the case of a work placement or 4 months in the case of a study visit. Your household’s net income is no more than 18,000 EUR per year, plus 6,000 EUR per household member.

Download the application forms from the Vaucluse Department’s website, or collect them from your local town hall (mairie) or at the Department’s reception desk. The deadline is 1 December.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is subject to strict eligibility criteria: you must live in the Vaucluse department, be under the age of 26 and, in most cases, already be receiving a government grant or meet strict income limits. As a result, the number of eligible students remains small. If you clearly meet these local and financial criteria, your chances are good. The loan and the mobility grant are separate options that you can combine with the scholarship.
