About this grant / loan
What you get
You receive between 300 EUR and 2,000 EUR for a civic project abroad lasting from 3 weeks to 1 year. A civic project is something you plan yourself. You explore a topic together with people in another country. Back home, you share what you learned, for example through a photo exhibition, a talk, school visits or a film screening. You can also apply as a group; the money is then split between the members. You get half before you leave and half after you return. The grant comes from Jeunes à Travers le Monde (JTM), an association in Rennes, together with the Ille-et-Vilaine department council.
Who can apply
- Age: You are between 16 and 35.
- Where you live: You or your parents live in the Ille-et-Vilaine department in Brittany.
- Your own idea: You set up the project yourself and are leading it, either on your own or as part of a group.
- Type of trip: Your trip is a civic engagement project in the sense described above. Study visits, work placements, school exchanges, research stays and holiday trips do not count as such.
- Destination: You can travel to any country abroad. The French overseas territories, such as Réunion, Martinique and New Caledonia, are not included.
- First time only: You have not yet received this grant.
- Bank account: You have your own bank account. If you are younger than 18, you will also need a signed consent form from your parents.
How to apply
First, you will meet with JTM to prepare your project. You will also receive project support from CRIDEV Rennes, a local partner organisation. You will then submit your application, including a project plan and a budget. The deadline is two months before one of the jury meetings, which take place several times a year. Finally, you will present your project to the jury in person. To be eligible to apply, you must become a member of JTM; membership costs 20 EUR.
If you want to explore further funding options beyond the JTM grant, you will find additional opportunities in our guide Scholarships in France.
