Wellspect Fellowship (Bourse de recherche Wellspect)

You will receive 1,500 EUR to 4,500 EUR for a French-language research project or a completed study in the field of neuro-urology. Neuro-urology deals with bladder problems such as incontinence or urinary retention caused by neurological conditions such as spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis or Parkinson’s disease. If no grant was awarded in the previous year, the total amount may be increased to 9,000 EUR and split between two projects. A scientific committee determines the exact amount. You are free to use the money as you see fit, either to cover your living expenses whilst carrying out the research (including a period abroad) or for the research itself. This is a grant, i.e. research funding that you receive to carry out a project. It is sponsored by Wellspect France and administered by GENULF, the French-speaking study group for neuro-urology.

Who can apply

• Your work: You have authored a high-calibre research project or study in the field of neuro-urology, written in French.
• Field: Your work focuses on neuro-urology, that is, on bladder function in relation to neurological disorders.
• Who you are: Participation is open to everyone, although you must not be an active GENULF member yourself. However, a GENULF member may have assisted you with your work.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. Their work must be written in French.
• Publication: You agree to submit the selected work for publication before receiving the prize, provided it has not already been published.
• Other funding: This award may be combined with other prizes or scholarships.

How to apply

Please submit your application to GENULF by 1 November each year. You will need to provide your CV, including your most important publications; a one-page project summary; the full research project proposal (background, objectives, methods and timetable); and a list of any funding you have already received. A four-member committee reviews the submissions and nominates the winner.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is very narrowly defined. It is presented to an outstanding French-language research project in a single discipline, meaning that only a few candidates compete for it. If your work falls within the field of neuro-urology and is well documented, your chances are good. The committee is instructed to give preference to work carried out with limited resources over projects with large budgets, so a modest research environment is not a disadvantage.
