ANM Housing Grants

You will receive 5,400 EUR as a grant towards your accommodation costs whilst studying medicine; this grant is awarded for 1 years. The funds come from the Académie Nationale de Médecine, the French National Academy of Medicine. Each year, the Academy transfers a fixed sum to a partner organisation, the AFEM (Association Aide aux Familles et Entraide Médicale), which awards the individual grants.

Who can apply

• What you study: You’re studying medicine.
• Where you study: You’re studying in France. It doesn’t matter which university.
• Financial need: You are unable to cover your living and study costs on your own.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

Please apply for funding via the AFEM, the association that administers the grants, rather than directly to the Academy. Decisions on the allocation of grants are made every October at a meeting in Paris; please therefore submit your application to the AFEM in good time.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is very specific: you must be studying medicine and demonstrate a genuine financial need, and as the total amount is small, only a few grants are awarded each year. If you clearly meet the eligibility criteria and can prove your financial need, the small number of applicants will work in your favour.
