About this award / prize

Claude Benezra-Ducombs Award

You will receive a prize of 5,000 EUR for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of dermatoallergology, that is, research into allergic skin reactions. The prize is awarded for the best oral presentation and the two best posters presented at the annual ‘Cours du GERDA’, a French dermatology congress. GERDA (Groupe d’Etudes et de Recherche en Dermato-Allergologie) awards the prize in honour of two French pioneers in this field, Professors Claude Benezra and Georges Ducombs. You will receive it during a closing ceremony on the final day of the congress.

Who can apply

  • Who it is for: You are a researcher or clinician and would like to present findings or clinical experience in the field of dermatoallergology.
  • Field: Her field of work is dermatoallergology (skin and allergy research).
  • What you submit: You submit an abstract for a talk or a poster. A scientific committee then decides who will be allowed to present.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Where you study or work: Any organisation is eligible to take part.
  • Age: No age limit.

How to apply

Please submit an abstract by 15 June via the GERDA Congress website. The scientific committee will decide who is eligible to give a presentation. Prizes will then be awarded during the closing ceremony for the best accepted presentation and the best posters.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a single competition prize, not an open scholarship. Only three awards are presented each year, and you will win if your work is judged to be among the best oral presentations or posters at the congress. The pool of applicants is small, as it is restricted to specialists in dermatological allergology, but the quality of your research is the decisive factor. If your work is compelling and clearly falls within this field, you have a genuine chance of winning.
