What you get

You receive a one-off grant of 600 EUR for an internship or study period elsewhere in Europe, or 1,000 EUR for one outside Europe. The Mayenne county council (Conseil departemental de la Mayenne) pays it in a single instalment once it approves your application. You can claim it twice during your studies, once per academic year. You can also combine it with grants from other regions, cities or your university, and with the county's student honour loan.

Who can apply

• Level: You are enrolled in higher education at an institution in France, in your first cycle of studies (not continuing education or professional retraining).
• Where you go: You do an internship abroad of at least 8 weeks, or a study period abroad of at least 12 weeks (one full university semester).
• Family home: Your parents pay tax in the Mayenne department. If you are financially independent (separate tax return, own home, and personal income of at least half the annual minimum wage), the county assesses your own situation instead.
• Age: You are 18 or over.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Family income: Your parents' gross income for the last known tax year must stay under a ceiling. It rises with the number of dependent children, from 45,000 EUR for one child up to 65,000 EUR for five, plus 10% more for each extra child in higher education.

How to apply

You apply online through the 'Demarches simplifiees' platform, reachable from www.lamayenne.fr. Paper applications are not accepted. Apply before your stay ends, and no later than 1 June 2026 for the 2025/2026 year. The county's standing committee reviews applications once a month from October 2025 onwards.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is narrowly targeted: your parents must live in Mayenne, you must go abroad for a qualifying period, and family income must stay under the ceiling. So the eligible group is small and competition is limited. If you clearly meet those conditions and apply before the deadline, your prospects are good. The amount is fixed and tied to residence and income rather than grades, so a complete, on-time application matters more than an impressive one.
