What Envoléo gives you

For a study placement or work placement abroad that forms part of your current degree programme, you will receive a one-off payment of 500 to 3,000 EUR. The amount depends on the duration of your stay and your personal circumstances. For a stay of 10 weeks or more, the basic amount is 1,000 EUR. For a shorter stay of between 5 and 10 weeks, the basic amount is 500 EUR; however, this rule applies only to students in the BTS, BUT and health and social care programmes. You may be eligible for a supplement if you receive a French state grant at level 4 to 7, as well as a further supplement if you have a recognised disability (confirmed by the MDPH or the MDA). The two supplements can be combined, bringing the maximum amount to 3,000 EUR. The Pays de la Loire Regional Council in France pays the amount directly to you, and you are only eligible to receive it once during your entire higher education studies.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled on a standard full-time degree programme (not a vocational training course or under an employment contract) at a higher education institution in the Pays de la Loire region which has signed an Envoléo agreement.
• Age: At the start of your stay abroad, you will be in 28.
• Nationality: You are French or a national of another EU country.
• Your project: Your university has approved your study period or work placement abroad as part of your degree programme. This must last for at least 5 weeks (for students in the BTS, BUT and health and social care programmes) or at least 10 weeks (for all others) at a single location abroad.
• Where you go: You can travel to any country of your choice, with the exception of EU Member States and countries participating in the Erasmus programme; furthermore, you may not travel to the country of which you are a national.
• No double funding: You cannot receive both an Erasmus+ grant and a CROUS-AMI grant for the same trip.
• Field of study: All participants are eligible to take part.

How to apply

First, contact the International Office at your own university. It will conduct its own selection process and set its own deadlines. Once your university has shortlisted you, complete the application form online and attach your supporting documents. There is no fixed public deadline, but your documents must be received by the Region no later than one month before the start of your stay.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is very narrowly defined: you must be studying at a partner university in the Pays de la Loire region, be under the age of 28, and be planning a stay outside the EU and the Erasmus countries, meaning that very few people meet the eligibility criteria. There is no means test for the basic grant, but each university has only a limited number of places available, so selection by your own university is the actual deciding factor. If you clearly meet the criteria and apply early via your International Office, your chances are good.
