Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation Music Scholarship

You will receive a one-off grant of 15,000 EUR to help fund your next album in the contemporary music genre (‘musiques actuelles’: pop, rock, rap, electronic and similar styles). The funds must be used for the production of a complete album comprising at least 10 tracks or with a running time of at least 40 minutes, and/or for marketing purposes, such as music videos or stage design. The grant is provided by the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation, which has been supporting young creatives in the fields of literature, film and music since 1990. Only one music grant is awarded each year. Please note: The album must not be released before January 2027, and EPs or mini-albums are not eligible for funding.

Who can apply

• Who you are: You are a young musician (songwriter, composer and/or performer) or a group in which all members meet the entry criteria. Applicants of all nationalities are welcome.
• Age: On 31 December 2026, you will be no more than 30 years old.
• Track record: You already have a full-length album (10+ tracks or 40+ minutes) or a mini-album (6–9 tracks or 20–40 minutes) released via a professional distributor. Several short EPs count if, together, they comprise at least 10 tracks or 20 minutes. Simple uploads to YouTube, SoundCloud or Bandcamp, as well as to aggregators such as TuneCore and DistroKid, do not count.
• Contract: For this previous release, you have signed a contract with an independent label, a tour organiser, a publisher or a digital distribution partner. If you are producing the track yourself, you will also need a distribution or licensing agreement with a partner.
• SACEM: You are a member of or registered with the French music collecting society SACEM.
• Language: You may present your project in French, both in writing and orally. Your songs themselves do not have to be in French.

How to apply

Please submit your complete application online via the Foundation’s website by 14 June 2026 at 23:59. There is no application fee. A jury will first review all the documents. Shortlisted candidates will then present their project in person and in French between September and October 2026, accompanied by their manager or their label.

How realistic are your chances?

Only one scholarship is awarded each year, and the jury may decide not to award any at all; it is therefore a highly competitive individual award. The strict selection criteria limit the pool of applicants: You must have an album that has already been released under a genuine record deal, be registered with SACEM, and be able to present your project in French. If you clearly meet these conditions and submit a strong, well-produced project, you have a genuine chance, but you must be prepared for stiff competition.
