About this scholarship
SBCF Conference Bursary
You get a one-off 500 EUR towards travelling to and registering for an international conference where you present your own cell biology research, as a poster or a talk. The grant covers your transport and conference registration fees. It comes from the SBCF (Societe de Biologie Cellulaire de France), the French cell biology research society.
Who can apply
- Level: You are at least in your second year of a PhD, or you are a postdoc.
- Field: Your research is in cell biology.
- What you do at the conference: You present your own work as a poster or a talk at an international conference.
- Membership: You, your supervisor (the head of your lab) and your whole research team are all SBCF members.
- No recent grant: You have not received an SBCF travel grant in the last three years.
- Nationality and age: All nationalities can apply, and there is no age limit.
How to apply
Send one PDF with your one-page CV, a short letter explaining why you chose this conference, and a copy of the abstract you submitted. There are three deadlines a year: 15 April, 15 June and 15 September, each at 23:59. Your conference must start at least one month after the deadline you apply for. Incomplete applications are not reviewed.
How realistic are your chances?
This grant is narrowly targeted. You must be a PhD student or postdoc in cell biology, present your own work, and be an SBCF member along with your whole team. That keeps the pool small, so if you clearly fit and submit a complete file, your prospects are good. It also helps to apply to an early deadline.
