About this scholarship
ART research grant
You will receive up to 15,000 EUR as a one-off grant for an independent research project. The money will go to your laboratory or institution to cover project and material costs, and will not be paid out as a monthly salary. It is provided by the Association Recherche et Transfusion (ART), a French non-profit organisation that supports research in the fields of haematology and transfusion. The projects run for two years. You will be required to submit an interim report after one year and a final report after two years.
Who can apply
- Who you are: You are a doctor, a pharmacist, a researcher or a PhD student.
- Language: You speak French.
- Where the research happens: You are carrying out the research in France.
- Field of research: Your project falls under one of the following five topics: transfusion medicine, blood donor safety, haemovigilance (monitoring the safety of blood products), transfusion biology or cell therapy in the field of transfusion.
- Nationality: Applicants of any nationality may apply, provided they speak French and work in France.
How to apply
Applications are submitted via ART’s online form, which opens once a year. For the 2026 round, the application window runs from 17 June to 15 October 2026. You must submit your project title and a summary, a research proposal, a cover letter and a list of publications. The ART Executive Board will then decide who will receive funding.
How realistic are your chances?
This funding is highly targeted: your project must fall within one of the five thematic areas relating to transfusion and haematology, be carried out in France, and you must be a French-speaking researcher or clinician. This ensures that the pool of applicants remains small and specialised. If your project clearly falls within one of the five thematic areas and is well documented, your chances are good.
