Gaston Berger Scholarship for a first-year internship abroad

You will receive partial funding for a compulsory work placement in an English-speaking country. You will undertake this work placement at the end of your first year of study at INSA Lyon. The aim is to improve your English language skills through practical work, so that you are not held back by a lack of English proficiency. • Where you study: You are a first-year student at INSA Lyon (Institut national des sciences appliquées de Lyon), an engineering university in France.
• Language: Your English teacher has noticed that you are clearly having difficulties with English.
• Your placement: You will undertake your work placement during your first year of study in an English-speaking country.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects taught at INSA Lyon.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

Your English teacher will put you forward and will be your first point of contact. You submit your application to this teacher, and a committee will then review it.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is very narrowly defined. Only first-year students at INSA Lyon whose English teacher has highlighted a lack of English language skills are eligible to apply, so the group of eligible candidates is small. If your teacher supports your application and you are planning to spend time abroad in an English-speaking country during your first year of study, your chances are good. As your teacher is nominating you directly, a clear endorsement from them is more important than a polished presentation.
