What you get

The Nouvelle-Aquitaine region helps you fund studies or a work placement abroad. The grant is worked out per week: 80 to 100 EUR per week if you do not receive a French state student grant, or 100 to 110 EUR per week if you do. The higher figure applies when you also qualify for the low-income "bonus inclusion". Funding runs for up to 26 weeks per programme per academic year. So the total reaches up to 3,600 EUR if you have no state grant and up to 4,500 EUR if you do, up to Master 2 level. If you have a disability, you can also get up to 1,000 EUR back for extra costs. There are two versions. A study stay abroad lasts at least 8 weeks and earns ECTS credits (points that count towards your diploma). A work placement abroad lasts at least 2 weeks and is based on a training agreement between you, your school and the host company.

Who can apply

• Level: You are a student, apprentice or vocational trainee, up to Master 2 level.
• Where you study: You are enrolled at a recognised education or training institution in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, in a programme leading to a state-recognised diploma.
• Age: You are under 31 when your stay abroad begins.
• Income: Your household's tax reference income is at most 50,000 EUR (adjusted for dependants). The extra "bonus inclusion" needs an income of at most 30,000 EUR.
• Where you go: Abroad, but not to a country where you hold nationality, and not to a French overseas territory.
• No double funding: The same stay cannot be funded by Erasmus+, another regional aid, or an OPCO contribution of 700 EUR or more. A paid placement with a monthly net allowance does not qualify.

How to apply

Apply online through the "Mes demarches en Nouvelle-Aquitaine" platform before your stay abroad begins. Your school validates the file first, then the regional service reviews it. Your complete documents must reach the region no later than 2 months after your stay starts, or the application is rejected automatically.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a regional grant with clear, checkable conditions, not a competition for a few top places. So if you are enrolled in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, stay within the income limit and organise your stay abroad correctly, your prospects are good. The main risk is procedural: apply before you leave and get your school to validate the file in time, because a late or incomplete file is refused automatically.
