About this scholarship
SFT Travelling Scholarship
You will receive 15,000 EUR for a research placement abroad lasting up to 12 months at a foreign university, in a laboratory or in a hospital department. This grant is intended to support basic, experimental or clinical research in the field of organ and tissue transplantation, including in the disciplines of immunology, surgery and transplant medicine. It is awarded by the Société Francophone de Transplantation (SFT), the Francophone Transplantation Society. You may combine this grant with other funding.
Who can apply
- Who you are: You are a young researcher in the field of transplant medicine: a Master’s student, a PhD student in a science subject, or a postdoctoral researcher (someone who has completed their PhD and is continuing to work in research).
- Your project: You are leading your own research project on organ or tissue transplantation.
- Where you go: You will be spending time abroad at a foreign university, in a laboratory or in a hospital department.
- SFT membership: You are a member of SFT and your membership fees are up to date.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
How to apply
Please submit an online form, a CV, a personal statement, a letter of recommendation from your laboratory or department head, a project summary of approximately 10 to 12 pages, and details of your funding to the SFT Secretariat. The deadline is 3 May. A panel of transplantation specialists will assess the applications, and the grants will be awarded at the annual SFT Congress.
How realistic are your chances?
This funding scheme is very narrowly defined. You must be an active member of the SFT, have your own transplant research project, and be able to provide a clear invitation from a host institution abroad, meaning that the pool of eligible applicants is small. If you meet these criteria and submit a compelling project summary endorsed by your laboratory head, your chances are good. The most important factor is a convincing, well-substantiated research plan.
