About this scholarship
Benefit
Your full postgraduate tuition fees are covered for an MA or MSc degree programme at University College Birmingham (UCB). In return, you will undertake a set number of paid work placement hours for the university during the academic year: 400 hours in previous cohorts, and more recently around 500. The work will be tailored to your timetable so that you can focus on your studies. The work placements are based within the university’s own teams – for example, in the Business School, in the areas of data analysis, marketing, recruitment and public relations, or in visa compliance – so that you can gain real-world professional experience alongside your studies.
Who can apply
- Degree level: You are about to start a Master’s degree (MA or MSc) at UCB, or are planning to do so.
- University: You’re studying at University College Birmingham.
- Field of study: Any subject.
- Nationality: You are a student from the United Kingdom (domestic student). International students are not eligible to apply.
- Commitment: You are prepared to complete the required paid work placement hours (approximately 400 to 500 per year) alongside your studies.
How to apply
Applications are made via the separate internship vacancies published by UCB for each Master’s programme. For the 2025/26 academic year, the application deadline was 27 August at 5.
How realistic are your chances?
This vacancy is very specific: it is aimed exclusively at students at a particular British university, and each position is a genuine job with a fixed number of placement places, so the pool of applicants is small. If you clearly meet the criteria, are prepared to work the required hours, and apply before the August deadline whilst places are still available, your chances are good.
