About this scholarship

Svend Kristensen and Bros Hansen's Memorial Scholarship

You will receive a one-off grant for measures to promote fruit growing and horticulture in Denmark. The fund pays out a total of around 100,000 DKK (about 13,400 EUR) per year in total, which is divided amongst several recipients. The amount that each person or organisation receives therefore depends on who applies in the relevant year and is not fixed in advance. The money comes from the ‘Havebrugets Mindefond’, which is managed by HortiAdvice A/S in Odense.

Who can apply

  • What you do: You work in fruit growing, horticulture or the field of windbreaks (hedges and rows of trees that protect crops from the wind), or you are studying or conducting research in these areas.
  • What the money is for: Plant cultivation, research, plant breeding, teaching, garden design, technology, economics, the history of the subject area, or a related study trip abroad.
  • Who you are: Both individuals and organisations, including schools, museums and churches, are eligible to apply.
  • Focus on Denmark: Your work must promote fruit growing and horticulture in Denmark.
  • Nationality: All nationalities may apply.
  • Field of study: No formal training is required, but your work must be in the fields of horticulture, fruit growing or windbreak planting.
  • Preference: If you are or have been involved in agriculture, forestry or fisheries, this is an advantage, but not a requirement.

How to apply

Applications should be sent by email to the fund manager at HortiAdvice A/S. The deadline for applications is 16 November. The winners will be announced in an article in the trade journal “Frugt & Grønt”.
