University of Limerick - Frank McGourty Award

What you get

You receive a trophy for topping your year group academically at the University of Limerick. This is a recognition award, not a cash grant, and it is handed over at the Autumn Conferring Ceremony (the graduation event). Two trophies are given each year under the name Frank McGourty Award.

Who can win it

• Course: You study either the teaching-focused B.Sc. in Biology (with Physics, Chemistry or Agricultural Science) or the B.Sc. in Equine Science, the degree in the science of horses.
• Study year: You are in the final year of one of these degrees.
• Results: You have the highest QCA in your final-year group. The QCA (Quality Credit Average) is the University of Limerick's grade average across your modules. One trophy goes to the top Biology student, one to the top Equine Science student.
• Nationality: Any nationality can win, as long as you are on one of these courses.

How to apply

There is nothing to apply for. Winners are picked automatically from final-year grades, and the trophy is presented at the Autumn Conferring Ceremony.
