The J.J. Lee History Prize

You will receive a one-off cash prize of around 100 EUR. The Faculty of History at University College Cork (UCC) presents this award as part of its annual awards ceremony. The prize honours Professor Joe Lee, the former Head of the Department of History at UCC. The exact amount may vary slightly from year to year, as it is drawn from invested endowment funds, the returns on which fluctuate depending on market conditions. The prize is awarded only occasionally and not every year.

Who can apply

• University: You are currently a student at UCC.
• Field of study: You are studying History as a single-honours, major-honours or joint-honours student.
• Grades: You have achieved an overall grade of ‘First Class Honours’, the highest level of achievement. The prize is awarded to a student studying History as a single subject and achieving ‘First Class Honours’, or to the highest-ranking student studying History as a major subject and achieving ‘First Class Honours’ or to the student on a double-major programme who has achieved the most ‘First Class Honours’ in the third year of their arts studies (Third Arts).
• Nationality: Open to students of all nationalities.

How to apply

There is no need to apply. The Faculty of History selects the winner on the basis of their examination results and presents the prize at the annual ceremony.
