University College Cork - Mary Ryan Scholarships

Mary Ryan Language Scholarships

In total, you will receive 1,750 EUR, spread over the 3 to 4 years of your degree programme. The money is paid out annually, so that it supplements your budget throughout your studies, rather than being paid as a one-off sum. University College Cork (UCC) in Ireland awards up to five of these scholarships each year through its College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are starting your first year of a degree in the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences at UCC.
• Your subjects: You take at least two languages, chosen from French, German, Italian, Hispanic Studies and Mandarin Chinese.
• Your results: You must achieve at least 500 marks in the ‘Leaving Certificate’, the Irish school-leaving qualification. Only your six best subjects from a single sitting of examinations on your first attempt count. The awards are given first to those with the highest marks.
• No other UCC scholarship: You cannot receive another UCC scholarship at the same time. If you accept this scholarship, you will retain the title of ‘Quercus Entrance Scholar’, but will not receive the financial benefits associated with this scholarship.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are enrolled at UCC.

How to apply

There is no application form. Decisions on the award of the scholarship are made automatically based on your final examination results, and UCC will contact you directly if you are selected.
