About this scholarship

What you get

You get a mix of support to combine serious sport with full-time study at the MTU Kerry Campus in Ireland. The main benefit is entry to your course on reduced CAO points. You can be admitted with fewer points than normal if you reach at least 85% of the usual points for that course and year. You also receive financial help, academic support, peer mentoring (one-to-one guidance from a fellow athlete or staff member), performance testing, access to training facilities and high-performance workshops.

Awards come in three levels (Gold, Silver and Bronze) and run for the whole length of your course (2, 3 or 4 years), reviewed once a year. There is also an Elite Performance Scholarship for students with outstanding results in both sport and study. Two places are reserved for the courses MT906 B.Sc. (Hons) Physical Education Studies with Business and MT926/MT927 B.Sc. (Hons) in General or Mental Health Nursing.

The Sports Office also handles three separate cash bursaries you can apply for: the Kerry GAA Bursary and the Munster GAA Bursary, each worth 750 EUR per year for up to 2 years, and the Kennedy Coaches Sports Scholarship, worth 1,000 EUR per year for the length of your course. You must re-apply and be reviewed each year for all three.
