About this scholarship

Maynooth University Taught Masters Scholarships

You get a 3,000 EUR discount on your tuition fees for a full-time taught master's degree at Maynooth University in Ireland. This is not a cash payment. It comes straight off the fees you owe. The award covers one year only, the intake it is granted for. You cannot move it to another programme or a later year. Maynooth University gives out around 60 of these scholarships per year, across all Schools and departments with taught master's programmes. If you receive one, you are expected to help with the university's marketing, for example by giving testimonials or joining open events and webinars.

Who can apply

  • Degree level: You are starting a full-time taught master's programme at Maynooth University in September.
  • Prior qualification: You hold an undergraduate (Level 8) degree.
  • Fee status: You qualify for the Irish/EU tuition fee rate. Non-EU and international students apply instead through the university's International Office scholarships.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects and every School offering taught master's programmes.
  • Offer secured: You have a full or conditional offer for your chosen programme before the scholarship deadline.
  • Grades: Your past and current academic results are assessed, and awards go to the strongest applicants.
  • No double funding: You cannot combine this with another Maynooth scholarship or bursary. An Irish SUSI state grant is allowed alongside it.

How to apply

First secure your programme offer. Then submit a separate scholarship application, including an essay, through the university's online application system by the deadline of 30 May. A panel of admissions staff and faculty ranks applicants within each School based on grades and the essay. Successful applicants are contacted in late June and have ten working days to accept.
